Call For Papers

The CREMed has the pleasure to announce the opening of the Call for Papers for the “First Annual CREMed Best Paper Award”.
Researchers are invited to submit their papers on Economies in the Mediterranean region before 30 September 2010 to milena.verrie@cremed.eu  
Up to ten selected papers will be published as CREMed Working Papers and the winner, selected by the CREMed Call for Papers Committee, will receive a prize of 5.000€. 

Universidad Autónoma de Madrid is pleased to host the XXXV Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía (SAEe), to be held in Madrid, Spain, on 16-18 December 2010.
Authors are invited to submit theoretical and applied papers in all areas of economics for presentation at the Simposio. Submissions should be for either contributed or job market sessions. All papers and presentations should be in English.
Submissions must consist of a single PDF file with a maximum size of 2 MB, uploaded at: www.WebMeets.com/SAEe/2010 .
Submission deadlines: 6 June 2010 for contributed sessions, 12 September 2010 for job market sessions.
Decisions will be notified no later than 30 July 2010 for contributed sessions, 18 October 2010 for job market sessions.
Accepted papers will only be included in the final programme if presenting authors have registered by 29 October 2010. At most one paper from each person will be included in the programme.
Confirmed invited lectures: Pol Antràs (Harvard University), James Robinson (Harvard University), Amparo Urbano (Universitat de València).

Klaus Liebscher Award for scientific work on European Monetary Union and European Integration Issues by young economists from EU Member States and EU candidate countries
On the occasion of the 65th birthday of former OeNB-Governor Klaus Liebscher, and in recognition of his commitment to Austria’s participation in Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and to the cause of European integration, the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) established the Klaus Liebscher Award in 2005. This award is offered every year for two outstanding (policy-oriented) scientific papers on Economic and Monetary Union and European integration issues written by young economists (up to 35 years) from EU Member States or EU candidate countries. All authors of coauthored papers must fulfill all conditions for participation. The award grants EUR 10,000 per paper, and is announced at the OeNB’s annual Economic Conference. The winners are expected to present their main findings at this conference.
To qualify for competition, papers must be written in English or German and must be submitted to the Oesterreichische Nationalbank by January 17, 2011, at the latest. The chair of the panel of reviewers is Ewald Nowotny, Governor of the OeNB.
Papers shall be e-mailed to the Head of Economic Studies of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, Martin Summer, (martin.summer@oenb.at , cc: beate.hofbauer@oenb.at ) and shall be identified as applications with the reference “Klaus Liebscher Award 2011” in the subject line.

Royal Economic Society 2011 Annual Conference
The 2011 Annual Conference of the Royal Economic Society will be held at Royal Holloway, University of London from Monday 18th to Wednesday 20th April 2011.
Keynote lectures will be given by:
Vincent Crawford, Oxford and USCD (EJ lecture), Jean Tirole, IDEI (Hahn Lecture) and Rosa Matzkin, UCLA (Sargan Lecture)
The Programme Committee invites submissions of papers for General Sessions from academic, government and business economists in any field of economics and econometrics.
Details of the submission process will be made available on the Conference website.
Deadline for submissions is 15th October 2010. Notification of acceptance will be sent by mid-December 2010.
Proposals for Special Sessions are also invited. A Special Session would typically bring together 3 papers plus discussants but other formats can be proposed. There are no restrictions on topics, however, Special Session proposals should consist of a single-page document: further submission details will be published on the Conference website.
Authors of papers accepted for presentation at the RES Conference will be entitled to submit their papers for possible publication in the Conference issue of the Economic Journal. The Conference issue is edited to the same standards as regular issues of the Economic Journal and is published as part of the regular May issue in 2012. Promising papers not ready for publication in the Conference issue may be invited to resubmit for a later Economic Journal issue using the same referees and reports from the Conference issue.

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) Mannheim is pleased to announce a workshop on recent developments in behavioural microsimulation. The workshop will take place in Mannheim, Germany, on December 7-8, 2010, and aims at bringing together 15-20 economists and scholars in related fields from Europe and overseas.
We are happy to announce that Richard Blundell (University College London and Institute for Fiscal Studies) has accepted our invitation to give a keynote lecture.
Contributions from all areas of behavioural microsimulation are welcome. A non-exhaustive list of topics is:
● Developments beyond the standard labour supply model: rationing,
non-unitary household models, time-use, child care, occupational choice,
random preferences
● Linking microsimulation and macro models
● Computational issues in microsimulation
● Welfare analysis
● Ex-ante evaluation of family policies
The deadline for submission of full papers is October 15, 2010. Please submit papers in PDF or MS Word format to: microsim2010@zew.de
