Until the 2009 EEA Congress, the EEA granted an honorific award to the authors under 30 years of age or no more than 3 years past a PhD defence of outstanding papers singled out by the Programme Committee at the Annual Congresses.  The Young Economist Award was replaced by the FEEM Award in 2009.
