The program exemplifies why we warmly encourage each of you to attend the Congress!
Exhibitors and Special Sessions Outside The Scientific Program
During the coffee breaks and lunch hours, participants will be encouraged to visit the exhibition areas and engage actively with the exhibitors. Alongside the publishing houses, there will be a number of institutions exhibiting at EEA-ESEM Gothenburg 2013 (Bank of England, Deutsche Bundesbank, European Central Bank and European Investment Bank) and the representatives will be at hand to answer questions you may have. Moreover, there will be representatives of econometric software present to demonstrate their products.
There will also be a number of sessions organized outside the scientific program committee. The EEA Women in Economics Committee (WinE) is organizing its first-ever "Mentoring Retreat", which will take place before the Congress, while the European Economic Committee on Research is organizing what has become its annual panel session. This year's discussion will be on "Disseminating Economic Research in the Policy Debate". The Department of Economics at the University of Gothenburg will too be showcasing its research by organizing 2 sessions - “Structural Change and Natural Resources” and “Managing the Commons – In Honour of Elinor Ostrom”. Furthermore, Wiley Blackwell will be organising a follow–up to the very successful "How to Get Published" session they ran at EEA-ESEM Oslo 2011. New to EEA-ESEM will be the presentation by the European Research Council Executive Agency on ERC grants and applications.

Local Arrangements Committee and The City of Gothenburg
Ola Olsson (University of Gothenburg) is chairing the Local Arrangements Committee (LAC). He and his colleagues are doing a great job to ensure that the 2013 EEA congress will run smoothly and in the best possible way. They, along with the whole city, look forward to welcoming you to Gothenburg!
Gothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden. It has developed into a center for cultural and other events in the heart of Scandinavia. The center is concentrated so most of the hotels are within a 10 to 15-minute walk of the Congress location. The surrounding countryside is at its best in summer time and is a dream for all lovers of the outdoors. There are many lakes and forests to be explored, and a big archipelago with thousands of islands to be discovered. It is a good idea to stay for an extra few days after the Congress to unwind in this most beautiful unrivalled nature.
